Ady Van den Stock

Ady Van den Stock is a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University (Department of Languages and Cultures, research group “East Asian Culture in Perspective: Identity, Historical Consciousness, Modernity”), where he is currently undertaking the project “An Intellectual Genealogy of Islam in Modern China: categorization, modernization, secularization.” His other research interests include modern Chinese philosophy and intellectual history, specifically New Confucian and (Neo-)Marxist currents of thought. He has published several articles in this domain as well as the monograph The Horizon of Modernity: Subjectivity and Social Structure in New Confucian Philosophy (Leiden: Brill, 2016).
