Timothy Wai Keung CHAN was born in Hong Kong, received an MA degree in Chinese language and literature from Peking University and a PhD degree in comparative literature from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He taught at the Ohio State University and the University of Sydney before joining Hong Kong Baptist University. His research interests include classical Chinese literature, intellectual history, ancient documents, early Daoist literature, and comparative literature. He publishes in Chinese and English in journals such as T’oung Pao, Journal of the American Oriental Society, Beijing daxue xuebao, Ts’ing-hua Journal of Chinese Studies, and Journal of Chinese Studies. His English monograph, Considering the End: Mortality in Poetic Representation in Early Medieval China was published by Brill in 2012.
